I”m not really sure that this is going to work but here goes nothing-

So I too found the reading very interesting. One thing that caught my interest was on page 23 where it stated “In general, members of the news media do not consider ideologies to be newsworthy. Rather, the media like to report events, particularly unusual events and especially events involving violence and conflict”. This made me think about how many activist get a bad sort of stigma/stereotype, but after reading that I am led to  believe that the media pushes them to do the crazy and out there things they are known for. If activist didn’t have to go to such great lengths to get the media coverage they deserve they may be view totally differently. I found it really interesting that how they depend so much on the media and how hard it is to find ways to exploit the media. Also back to the idea that the media controls a lot of what we learn and hear- the beginning of the chapter really shows good examples of how the media twists stories to make them something they’re not (the Miss America example). So it seems that although sometimes these activists are finding ways to get the attention of the media, a lot of the time with that they are getting  a negative story put out about them because of the altered news reports. Obviously that is not always the case I just found that pretty interesting : )
